Do you have an idea, capstone project or research that addresses the Sustainable Development Goals? We want you to participate in the upcoming Ideathon 2024 Demo Day on April 16, 2024, at UB Lipa campus.

Event Overview

IDEATHON 2024 is an innovative platform organized by the University of Batangas, designed to showcase the creative ideas and research projects of our students with the potential to disrupt industries or make a significant impact on the world. This event is dedicated to nurturing entrepreneurship and innovation, providing students with the opportunity to turn their ideas into viable startup ventures.

Event Highlights

  1. Students will have the opportunity to pitch their innovative ideas to a panel of judges comprising industry experts, entrepreneurs, and faculty members.
  2. Selected participants will receive mentorship and guidance from experienced entrepreneurs and industry professionals to refine their ideas and develop viable business models.
  3. IDEATHON 2024 will provide networking opportunities for students to connect with potential collaborators, investors, and mentors who can support them in their entrepreneurial journey.
  4. Outstanding ideas and projects will be recognized and rewarded, motivating students to pursue entrepreneurship and innovation further.

Objective

The primary objective of IDEATHON 2024 is to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students by providing them with a platform to present their innovative ideas and research projects. Through this event, we aim to identify and support promising startups that have the potential to make waves in the industry and contribute positively to society.

Guidelines

Eligibility:
  1. Each college within the university can have a maximum of five groups as its official entry.
  2. Entries must be based on capstone projects, thesis work, or research projects completed by students.
  3. Participation is open to all  students of University of Batangas from all disciplines.
Idea Submission:
  1. Groups must submit a 5 minute or less video pitch showing their innovative idea or research project to bit.ly/ubideathon2024
  2. Proposals should include a clear problem statement, proposed solution, target market, potential impact, and feasibility analysis.
  3. Submission deadlines will be on April 1, 2024, and late submissions will not be accepted.
  4. All entries will be screened by judges before proceeding on demo day.
Presentation Format:
  1. Each group will be allotted a specific time slot to present their idea or research project.
  2. Presentations should be concise, engaging, and clearly communicate the value proposition of the idea.
  3. Visual aids such as slides, prototypes, or demonstrations are encouraged to enhance the presentation.
Demo Day Session:
  1. Qualified groups will participate in a demo day session where they will showcase their prototypes, products, or research findings.
  2. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with the participants, ask questions, and provide feedback.
  3. Networking opportunities will be available for participants to connect with potential collaborators, mentors, and investors.
Awards and Recognition:
  1. Outstanding groups will be recognized and awarded based on predefined criteria such as Most Innovative Idea, and Best Presentation.
  2. Awards will be announced during the closing ceremony of IDEATHON 2024.
  3. All participants will receive certificates of participation to acknowledge their efforts and contributions.
Group Composition:
  1. Each group must consist of a minimum of three members and a maximum of five members.
  2. Collaborative efforts between students from different disciplines are encouraged to promote interdisciplinary innovation.
  3. All members of the group must be currently enrolled students at the University of Batangas.
Evaluation Criteria:
  1. Entries will be evaluated based on the following criteria, each weighted at 20%:
    1. Industry Relevance: The extent to which the idea or research project addresses current industry needs, trends, or challenges.
    2. Technical Feasibility: The feasibility of implementing the idea or research project from a technical perspective, considering available resources and technology.
    3. Economical Feasibility: The potential economic viability of the idea or research project, including cost-effectiveness and revenue generation.
    4. Originality of Business Idea: The uniqueness and novelty of the proposed business idea or research project compared to existing solutions or products.
    5. Responsible Innovation Quotient: The degree to which the idea or research project demonstrates ethical considerations, sustainability, and social responsibility in its implementation and impact.
  2. Judges will assess each entry based on these criteria, considering the overall quality and relevance of the proposal.
  3. Scores will be tallied, and winners will be determined based on the highest cumulative scores across all evaluation criteria.
  4. Judges’ decisions will be final, and feedback will be provided to all participating groups.
Code of Conduct:
  1. Participants are expected to adhere to the university’s code of conduct and exhibit professionalism, respect, and integrity throughout the event.
  2. Any form of plagiarism, cheating, or unethical behavior will result in disqualification from the competition.
  3. Participants must comply with all event rules and regulations communicated by the organizing committee.
Disclaimer:
  1. IDEATHON 2024 organizers reserve the right to make changes to the guidelines, schedule, or any other aspect of the event as deemed necessary.
  2. By participating in IDEATHON 2024, all groups agree to abide by the rules and decisions of the organizing committee.
  3. By joining and being present at the event venue, participants allow the organizers to take photos, record audio, and capture video footage for promotional and documentation purposes. Any objections to this must be communicated in writing to the organizing committee prior to the event.
